So for the first time ever, I’ll be able to pay my rent solely based on itunes and amazon downloads! Thank you so much to everyone that downloaded my album – I still can’t believe it! I’m working hard on the new album and hope to have it mastered in January, and I’ll do an initial release on the listen.takenobumusic.com page while things get sorted out in the rest of the digital distribution world. So I woke up this morning after a pretty restless night of sleep and weird dreams that some blog was somehow publishing/writing my songs before I could. I probably shouldn’t work on music up until the second I go to bed, but that’s pretty much the only option since i’ve got a day job. There are many great cellists out there, but there are a few who everyone interested in the cello should check out.
To really understand what makes certain cellists great, you need to understand a little bit about the history of the instrument. The cello has been around for centuries, but it was initially considered a minor player in the string family. It was considered more of a rhythmic element, and didn’t get a lot of recognition as a solo instrument. In those days the violin got a lot more of the glory. [click to continue…]
